So Much Variety in the QC Music Scene
There are seven performances in this week's post. Friday's shows were all in one location, and Saturday's travels produced three undiscovered bands -r at least undiscovered on this blog. Summer is nearing an end, but outdoor music is still happening, as was evidenced by Friday's Live at 5 series and Paddle Fest Saturday evening in Bettendorf.

I Heard This Before
You never know where I might turn up...
There are a few bands on my “to see” list that you might not
expect to find there. Friday night presented an opportunity to see one of them
– as well as a bonus band. I arrived at RIBCO about halfway through A Hill to Die Upon’s set. This was the
“bonus” band, a band I have never seen and quite honestly, didn’t even know
existed until I saw them billed as part of Friday’s four-band show.

Live Music Labor Day Weekend
"...and if you know someone who doesn't like music, don't trust them" - Sunflower Slim
Thursday I deviated a bit from the normal routine and
started my evening out at Rozz-Tox for a taste of their all-original Rozz-Vox open
mic night. I didn’t get to enjoy much of it, as it started later than the
advertised scheduled starting time, and I had other stops to make this night.
Host Donnie Bobb played a couple of songs, then Retro Ron stepped up for his
turn. I’ve never heard any of Ron’s
original music. It was a nice break from the Beatles covers. Hopefully next time I'll catch a couple more musicians.
