Live Music Everywhere!

Thursday night was another cool blues and hot rock jam night at The Muddy Waters. We were once again treated to a cross-section of musicians, including part of the Blues Challenge contender band: “Serious Business”.

A mellow group at The Grape Life... must have been something in the wine!
Saturday evening, I could be found at The Grape Life, where Lee Blackmon was performing. It was an unusually quiet evening, but there was a good crowd and they enjoyed Lee’s “sideways” music.

Mike Kraft jams with Wicked Nature
After closing down Lee’s set at The Grape Life I took a ride down to the Village of East Davenport to check out the newest incarnation of Wicked Nature. Don O’Dette seemed right at home with the Wicked Nature bunch, and new guitarist Mike Kraft was rocking out right along with him.

Don's found a new home with Wicked Nature

Guest guitarist, "Booter"  , from Tronicity joined in on a few songs as well.

This week:
Thursday is (of course) The John O’Meara Jam night at The Muddy Waters. There's also an open mic at Creekside every Thursday.

Friday the RME starts off their Friday Live @5 series in the courtyard with Cobalt Blue. Friday is a big day for Cobalt Blue. They’re celebrating 25 years and a CD release. If you can’t make it to the courtyard at 5 for their RME performance, you can catch them at The Muddy Waters at 9 PM for their Anniversary and CD Release party. It’s sure to be a great time!

Keep Off the Grass will be at the 11th Street Precinct and Martini’s on the Rock is hosting Smooth Groove Friday night.

Saturday is going to be a party PARTY day at The Muddy Waters, as they celebrate their 2nd Anniversary. (WTG Hal and Kristy!) Expect the jams all afternoon and evening. Also…right down the road at Purgatory’s Wicked Nature will be rocking into the night, Dirt Road Rockers will be in Coal Valley at Mulligans, and in the Village, Justin Morrissey will be at Bleyarts and the 11th Street Precinct will host the Karry Outz.

Meanwhile, I’ll be in East Moline with 1st Impression at Racer’s Edge. Come on out and party!

The Captain’s Table has begun their outdoor Sunday afternoon/evening live music shows. This Sunday, Keep Off the Grass will be playing on the outdoor stage. Dave Ellis will be playing Sunday Funday at The Muddy Waters.

I often mention there are jam sessions and open mic sessions around the area – thought I would list just a few – that all happen to fall on Tuesday nights:
Cool Beanz, 11th Street Precinct, the Dam View Inn, and Brady Street Pub are all places where you can find jams on Tuesday nights. Every jam/open mic is formatted a little differently, so check them out – you never know who might show up any night at any location.

Truly, if you’re looking for live music, you can find it somewhere in the QC on any given night.
