Friday at the RME Performance Hall
Local band Breakup Art Rocked the RME Performance Hall Stage |
Due to the Redstone Room holiday party schedule, visiting
bands What Made Milwaukee Famous and The Stone Foxes were scheduled in the
RME Performance Hall. Local band Breakup
Art was added later as an opening act.
Breakup Art plays mostly
original music with a punk influence. Front man and guitarist Donnie Bobb tells
me they are looking forward to getting back to writing new music and doing some
recording soon. New music from local
bands is a great thing, and I’ll be keeping an eye out for their next
recording…and their next live show as well!
Stone Foxes Elliot Peltzman jams the keys while Shannon Koehler kills on drums |
The Stone Foxes
are a highly energetic bunch that takes audience participation up a notch when
drummer/vocalist/harpist Shannon Koehler steps out from behind the drums and into the
audience. This band has a raucous blues-rock sound, with psychedelic
undertones. I saw on their Facebook page
that they had a Daytrotter session while they were in town, so I’ll be looking
forward to hearing that soon.
I actually checked out the Daytrotter session for headliners
What Made Milwaukee Famous in making
my decision to attend this show. They have a blues/roots rock sound and are
worth a second listen.

Sunday at Rozz-Tox
Anna Ash brought her distinctive sound to the Rozz-Tox stage |
Sunday night I took a jaunt over to Rock Island to catch
Anna Ash with opening act The Busted
Chandeliers. The Chandeliers are
a local band full of talent that I’ve begun to watch pretty closely.
Unfortunately, Sunday night their set was a short one, and I arrived late from
another event, so I missed their set entirely!
They will be opening for Davina
and the Vagabonds on January 11 in the Redstone Room. I won’t be missing
that show!
I did stay for part of Anna Ash’s set though, and thoroughly
enjoyed her unique yet timeless sound. She
has a beautiful voice and sings in a style reminiscent of the radio artists of
the 1940s. Check her out when you can.
I’ve fallen a bit behind on uploading photos to my Flickr page – but hope to get caught up during the week between Christmas and New
Year’s Day. So keep an eye on the page
for new photos of the bands I saw this week as well as last week’s bands.
This week:
We’re getting closer to Christmas, but that hasn’t stopped
the local music scene. Take a break from the hectic Christmas rush and stop out
to see some live music this weekend!

Room, The Avey Brothers with Ric Burris can be found at The Muddy Waters, and
