A Recipe For Live Music

Friday – Lee Blackmon With a Dash of Harris Collection

Roger Carlson sings along with Lee Blackmon
If you were looking for me Friday night, you would have found me at Bleyart’s entertaining a rowdy crowd with Lee Blackmon. During a break, I made a mad dash down to the Mound Street Landing to catch a bit of the Harris Collection’s Toys for Tots Benefit. The band sounded great, and there were Marines in dress uniforms everywhere. Tom Zick was running sound, and during a Harris break he stopped by Bleyarts. Also in attendance at Bleyarts were Roger Carlson and Bill Spain who joined Lee for a few songs.

Saturday – a Rascals/RME Sandwich

1st Impression's Rascals Debut

Saturday night began and ended at Rascals Live, with a short break at the River Music Experience to catch some Trampled Under Foot. 1st Impression was playing Rascals for the first time, opening for Nashville rockers Sex Panther. 1st Impression rocked a party-ready crowd that filled the dance floor.

Who says you can't rock in heels?
After 1st Impression’s set, I made a mad dash for the RME, as I had a ticket to see Trampled Under Foot on the Redstone Room stage. I know TUF is not a local band, but they are a local favorite.  And I’ve seen them each time they have played in Davenport. The opportunity to see them in the Redstone Room was not one I intended to miss! The Schnebelen siblings did not disappoint… if anything, I was disappointed that I missed so much of their show!

Soon after TUF finished their last set and encore, I was back at Rascals to see what all this Sex Panther hubbub was really about. Daniel Rangel, Quad-City native and former 1st Impression drummer brought Sex Panther home for a visit. Sex Panther has a hard rock sound, and it’s obvious these three guys have a lot of fun.  The Sex Panther set turned into a jam session as other musicians joined them on stage, including Becky Anson whose vocals fit right in with the Sex Panther sound.
